Best TV shows on TV tonight

Unforgotten, 9 pm, ITV1

One of the most delicious aspects of this drama is always the emergence of the links between the four suspects. Tonight, the picture takes significant shape. When more details about victim Precious’ turbulent past come to light, DI Sunny Khan (Sanjeev Bhaskar) is dispatched to Paris to speak to taxi driver and warehouse worker Karol (Max Rinehart) as we discover his connection.

Meanwhile, Lord Tony Hume (Ian McElhinney) is decidedly on edge when DCI Jess James (Sinéad Keenan) turns up at his home armed with more information. And Jay (Rhys Yates), currently in prison for mugging a woman, makes a bombshell phone call that propels him to the heart of the case!

Maya Jama in a blue floral dress poses in the Love Island 2023 villa

Weeks ago, new Love Island host Maya Jama welcomed a fresh batch of singles hoping to find love in the South African villa. Now, their journey is set to come to an end in The Live Final. Their road to love hasn’t been easy, with heated showdowns and explosive recouplings which left some couples in tears. The drama didn’t stop there, as Movie Night plunged the villa into chaos after sneaky Casa Amor antics were exposed. With the end of the series finally here, tonight we find out which couple will be taking home the £50,000 prize money and be crowned the Love Island 2023 winners.

As Sara Cox returns for another series of her popular book club, her first guests are lawyer-turned-TV personality Robert Rinder, presenter Angela Scanlon, DJ Spoony and musician Cerys Matthews who all bring along their favourite books to discuss. They also review crime novel In the Blink of an Eye by Jo Callaghan and talk about Burial Rites by Hannah Kent.

Jonathan Ross' Myths and Legends, 9 pm, More4

Jonathan has worked with all the biggest stars during his career as a talk-show host, but he’s looking for legends of a very different kind in this charming four-part series. The TV star wants to shed new light on a host of old British myths lost in the mists of time. He starts his journey with one of the most famous of all when he visits Whitby, birthplace of Count Dracula. The rest of tonight’s tales are far less familiar, with hole-dwelling hobgoblins and 16th-century herbalists allowing Ross’ genuine passion for the subject to shine through.

Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) is back, and it's time to round off season 4 now that the second part has landed on Netflix. When we left off, we found out the true identity of the Eat the Rich Killer, and it looks like Joe's got a new adversary to contend with.

All episodes are available to watch, making it the perfect show to binge watch this week, and there's plenty of drama in store as well as some fun cameos...

Best film on TV tonight

Charade, 3:10 pm, Talking Pictures TV

Audrey Hepburn in Charade

The epitome of a classic comedy thriller, this stars Audrey Hepburn as a recently widowed woman whose husband, unbeknown to her, was a crook who stole $250,000 during World War Two. Now his army buddies, who were also in on the robbery, think that Hepburn knows where he stashed the cash.

Then Cary Grant turns up to come to her aid. Or has he? Singin’ in the Rain director Stanley Donen knows a thing or two about making a polished flick and here he skips between drama, thriller and comedy with a rare elegance that’s nigh on perfect.
