Best TV shows on TV tonight

Fred's Last Resort, 9 pm, E4

Fred Sirieix means business when he whisks 12 twentysomething Brits to the five-star Les Roches Blanches hotel in the South of France. Motivated by the industry’s recruitment crisis and his passion for service par excellence, Fred trains contestants – including a boxer, farmer, bar worker and content creator – in the art of high-end hotel service.

They’re competing for a life-changing job and £10,000, but those who don’t make the grade are sent packing. The opening challenges include hosting a VIP lunch and a lavish birthday party. Lesson one: don’t call Fred ‘bruv’. Entertaining and eye-opening. Continues tomorrow.

Ben Fogle's New Lives in the Wild, 9 pm, Channel 5

As the series draws to a close, Ben travels to the Jurassic Coast in Dorset to meet a truly inspirational couple. Almost six years ago, parachute regiment veteran Chris left Swansea and embarked on an epic expedition – to walk the entire coastline of Britain in a bid to improve his mental health and raise money for veterans charity SSAFA.

Along the way, he met Kate, who joined him. The couple had a child and now Chris, Kate and seven-month-old Magnus, who have survived by foraging and relying on the kindness of strangers, are almost at the end of their amazing adventure.

Emma, Oti and Rylan's Big Red Nose Day Challenge, 9 pm, BBC One

Earlier this year, Oti Mabuse, Rylan and Emma Willis took on the mammoth challenge of trekking to the top of Cairn Gorm mountain in the Scottish Highlands to raise money for Red Nose Day. As they set off from the village of Braemar, the trio were in high spirits and excited for the challenge ahead – but they soon found themselves having to temporarily suspend their attempt due to dangerous weather conditions at the summit.

This gripping (in every sense) and suspenseful documentary follows them through icy temperatures and across treacherous terrain as they attempt to reach the peak against all odds. Remember, the only way is up…

Johnny is emotional when he discovers that his forebears influenced the ban on corporal punishment in schools, while Alex is shocked by the tragic childhood of his great-grandmother and her sisters and also reconnects with family in Canada he never knew existed.

Loaded in Paradise, 9 pm, ITV2

Missing your Love Island fix? Don’t worry, ITV2 still has you covered in the nightly reality stakes! This series is already available on ITVX, but makes its TV debut this week. It’s sort of like Coach Trip without Brendan Sheerin and with a gold card loaded with €50,000. In Athens, five pairs are fighting it out for the chance to trouser that card and spend, spend, spend, while the others chase them and try to snatch it. Best friends Jamie and Guy are first to nab it, but they’re hardly last of the big spenders. ‘Two pints of lager’ is their first purchase – ‘Er, the most expensive one…’
