‘You could actually win this competition,’ Simon Cowell tells Fleur East on X Factor

Fleur East is not the bookies' favourite to win The X Factor - but Simon Cowell fancies Fleur's chances after her performance of Jessie J's "Bang Bang" on this week's show.

It was Big Band week, meaning the eight remaining acts had to sing with a 30-piece orchestra - or try to.

Fleur came out on top as far as the judges were concerned, but they also enjoyed Only The Young's performance of the Jungle Book favourite, "I Wanna Be Like You".

"You bring fun to the X Factor," Cheryl told the group.

"My kids are absolutely in love with you," added Mel B. "I would go to your concert any time."

Seventeen-year-old Lauren Platt sang Nat King Cole's "Smile" sitting on a swing… "And I'm just glad the seat didn't snap!" Lauren said afterwards.

"Your technique, vocally, is flawless," Mel told Lauren.

"But the performance was a bit boring," Simon added. "It was good, but not fantastic."

Andrea Faustini, who is currently the bookies' favourite to win, got a mixed reaction from the judges after his performance of Ella Fitzgerald's "Summertime".

"You're like a little Pavarotti," Louis Walsh told Andrea.

"I actually didn't like it," said Simon. "It lacked the gritty passion you need with that song. And you pull terrible faces when you sing, like you're in pain."

Will Andrea be in pain after the public have voted? Or will it be Jay James in the sing-off again, along with Stereo Kicks, or Ben Haenow or - dare anyone hope - Stevi Ritchie?

The X Factor results show is on ITV, Sunday, November 16, 8.00pm.
