BGT drag act are 'like the Spice Girls'

Simon Cowell tells a drag act that they remind him of the Spice Girls in Saturday's episode of Britain's Got Talent.

He says he can see a resemblance between two bulky men in dresses and former Spice Girls Geri Halliwell and Victoria Beckham.

The Britain's Got Talent judge tells them: "It's like Geri Halliwell and Victoria Beckham separating away from the Spice Girls and doing a duet."

One of the men quips back: "Only better looking."

The Britain's Got Talent act are teacher Mark and building yard worker Stuart dressing up as their alter egos Bernie and Brenda for their drag act Bosom Buddies.

Simon, 53, continues: "And better singers. But there is a resemblance, particularly you," pointing to Stuart. "I'm still struggling a little bit with this."

The pair wear purple corset dresses and black heels, with one in a blonde wig and the other sporting a Posh-esque black bob. Simon famously turned down managing the Spice Girls before they became famous.

When Victoria Beckham joined the American Idol judging panel with him in 2009, she said: "He is the only man in the music industry who turned down the Spice Girls - and said we would never work. I like that fact."

The Bosom Buddies episode of Britain's Got Talent screens on ITV on Saturday, May 4 at 7.15pm.
