Cotton's mum lands role in Coronation St

Coronation Street regular Antony Cotton has announced that the cobbles is to get a new star - his mum.

The actor who plays Sean Tully in the ITV soap revealed the news via Twitter that his real-life mum Enid Dunn would be joining him at work.

He wrote: "So. My @itvcorrie news. My lovely mum is coming in to play a fun character for a handful of eps. Well done mum! x"

He also commented on tweets from followers congratulating his family, saying: "Very excited to have her in Weatherfield again!"

Enid has appeared in Corrie three times before in bit parts. She had worked as a seamstress, but recently took up acting with the support of Antony, who plays a factory machinist and part-time barman in the soap.

Antony had previously hinted at the news, tweeting: "Had the best day ever yesterday, for various reasons. One was Corrie related certainly, but I'm waiting to see if I can talk about it..."
