VIDEO: watch Coronation Street’s preview of the Corrie gang’s comedy camping trip

Coronation Street is off on its holidays in episodes to be screened this week (beginning August 17) and Corrie has released a sneak preview of the fun to be had by not-always-happy campers Beth, Kirk (Andrew Whyment), Fiz, Tyrone, Sinead (Katie McGlynn), Chesney and Craig.

“This week is a massive week for the Tinkers,” says Colson Smith, who plays teenager Craig. “We’re going on a camping trip the way across the border…to Wales.”

Where Beth (Lisa George) immediately has issues with the living arrangements…

“Is your tent bigger than ours?” she asks Fiz (Jennie McAlpine).

“Er, it’s difficult to tell until he gets it up,” Fiz answers.

Oooooh, saucy! And that’s just a taste of the Carry On humour to be had…

This story is also where Paddy McGuinness joins the Corrie crowd, as wilderness survival expert Dougie.

“He’s the sort of guy who lives by the land as a hobby,” Colson explains. “He takes Chesney [Sam Aston] and Tyrone [Alan Halsall] on this mad hiking trip… It’s all going to be really fun.

“But the really exciting bit is that on this trip Craig finds his first love interest.”

Yes. Craig is looking for a phone signal and finds a pretty girl, who’s destined to give him his first kiss.

“Her name’s Caitlin [Eve Gordon] and she’s just perfect for him,” Colson continues.

“My dad’s a ‘foot up the backside’ type, must be why it’s so big,” Caitlin tells Craig.

“Your backside isn’t big,” Craig quickly tells her.

“Been checking it out, have you?” she asks.

Ah, romance is in the air.

“But then we find out Caitlin is Dougie’s daughter,” Colson adds. “It’s going to be a great week with lots of comedy.”
