Teenager Summer Spellman collapses after smoking a strange cigarette given to her by Simon Barlow
On what would have been her Dad's birthday, young Summer is feeling vulnerable. Desperate to fit in with her new friends, she can't resist taking a puff on a mysterious cigarette given to her by Simon, who dared her to smoke it. Later, she's found collapsed in the ginnel and rushed to hospital. After Summer is taken to hospital, her carers, Billy [played by actor Daniel Brocklebank, who's spoken about the dramatic storyline] and Todd, wait anxiously for news.
