EastEnders actor Charlie G Hawkins is set to leave the soap after seven years of playing Darren Miller, according to the papers. The Sunday Mirror reports that Charlie has decided to quit Albert Square so that he can "enjoy being a normal 20-year-old". And he told the paper that it was one of the toughest decisions of his life. "It is a very weird feeling to know I won’t be on the show in a few months," he said. "To be honest I can barely remember life before EastEnders. It will be great having no structure to my life and not having to learn lines, I’m really looking forward to that. "I've got some savings so I might just end up bumming around for a while. All I spend my money on is my Arsenal season ticket so I could last quite a long time." However he added that he was keen for producers not to kill off his character, to leave the door open for a possible return in the future. Charlie, who has also appeared in Foyle's War and the film Ali G In Da House, joined the cast of EastEnders when he was 13 and has been at the centre of several major storylines, including the mystery over the father of Heather Trott's baby.
