EastEnders star Joe Swash - Albert Square's Mickey Miller - has apparently been axed from the soap. The 26-year-old actor and David Spinx, who plays Mickey's stepdad Keith, were told by producers that they had run out of storylines for their characters, according to The Sun. A source told the paper: "Joe and David were told their characters had run out of steam by EastEnders boss Diederick Santer. "Joe was stunned at first. He's loved playing Mickey and felt the fans still enjoyed watching his antics. "But he soon realised if the stories weren't there, he didn't want to be just going through the motions. "He's now thinking over his next move carefully. He doesn't want to become just another former soap star." Joe joined the cast of EastEnders with the Miller family in 2003. His character had to be temporarily written out of the soap in 2005 when he was rushed to hospital with meningitis. This will come as a second blow for the soap star, who last month split from girlfriend Emma Sophocleous, the mother of his eight-month-old son Harry.
