Lucy Pargeter tells Soaplife why Chas Dingle cancels her wedding to Paddy Kirk…

S: How is Chas feeling about her pregnancy?

Lucy Pargeter: "As far as she is concerned, they are keeping the baby and going as full term as they can. Margarita is unlikely to survive when she is born, but Chas is still hoping that the prognosis might be wrong. She is praying that they will come up with a miraculous cure or put the baby on dialysis."

S: What happens when the consultant mentions organ donation?

LP: "It is a kick in the teeth for Chas because Paddy has spoken about it behind her back. It means he is thinking about the baby dying when she assumed they were both thinking about her living."

S: Why does she confide in Cain about it?

LP: "She is upset when she realises that Paddy has been thinking about donating their baby’s organs and blurts out the truth to Cain. She tells him what Paddy has done and he tries to explain it from his perspective and is left feeling worried when he realises that Chas is hoping for a miracle."

S: What makes Chas take the drastic step of calling off the wedding?

LP: "She wants to walk down the aisle as part of a team in this bubble of happiness. They should be on the same wavelength, so when she hears that Paddy went behind her back in regards to the organ donation, it spoils it for her. He is not in the same mindset as Chas."

S: Will they be able to make it through this?

LP: "They have a complicated time coming up, but they have to find a way forward because they’re having a baby. Chas is in a state of denial about the baby, but she is also in a state of immense hope and positivity. She is clinging on for dear life."

S: How do you feel about the responsibility of this big storyline?

LP: "I was honoured that they thought we could do a story like this, It was very sensitive for me as I have just had twins myself. It is daunting and you want to do it justice, I just want to put everything into it and do a good job.
