Emmerdale to get a 'contemporary' revamp

Emmerdale is about to undergo a major image change to 'refresh perceptions of the programme'. From Monday, each episode will begin with new opening titles, updated logos and a revamp of its iconic theme music. The sequence begins with a sweeping woodland shot leading to a glance inside three of the most iconic sets - the Woolpack, the Dingle house and Home Farm. Emmerdale's website, www.itv.com/emmerdale, has also relaunched and offers an exclusive insight into the show's more contemporary look and feel. Executive producer Steve November said: "Our aim is to refresh perceptions of the programme. Emmerdale has a unique voice and we wanted to reinforce that by giving it a fresher, more contemporary feel, to reflect the richness and diversity of its characters and storylines." The rebrand follows a remarkable period of success for the Yorkshire-based rural serial. Emmerdale is riding high in the ratings, currently averaging 8.5m viewers per episode, and is the only soap to have increased its audience share year on year since 2009.
