Nursing secrets

Following Duffy’s shock revelation that she is in the early stages of vascular dementia, this week her estranged husband and boss Charlie Fairhead takes secretive steps to manage the situation. Having already taken Duffy off night shifts Charlie (Derek Thompson) now assigns her ‘urgent’ clerical duties, saying he desperately needs her help…

Unfortunately Charlie’s ploy to prevent Duffy from treating patients backfires! With the ED short-staffed and stretched to its limits, Charlie’s decision to pull Duffy from medical duties hasn’t gone unnoticed by their co-workers. Meanwhile Duffy feels humiliated and hurt by Charlie’s desperate manoeuvrings to keep her as far away from patients as possible.

As the day wears on, stressed out Charlie completely loses his temper with argumentative junior nurse Jade Lovall, leaving colleagues speechless by his nasty outburst at the young medic.

Will Charlie realise he’s making Duffy’s scary situation more distressing? And will he regret taking his frustrations out on Jade?

Noble by nature?

Archie has not one, but TWO spats with newbie Will in the car park on his first day

New doctor Archie Hudson is unimpressed with the arrival of locum Will Noble this week. Before either newbie sets foot inside the ED they have a spat in the car park. This is turning into a regular occurrence for Archie!

Unlike Archie’s first day last week, Will’s initial shift is as smooth as he is. Not only does he charm Robyn and Noel, but it turns out he already knows Ethan. By the end of the shift even Connie is murmuring sweet nothings in his ear about the possibility of a full-time position at the ED. Although Will (Red Rock’s Jack Nolan) has mastered the art of making a good impression, is he too sweet to be wholesome?

Jade’s fall from grace

Junior nurse Jade is full of the joys of Spring because she’s passed her nursing exams – just! But her celebrations are put on ice, as the ED is severely short-staffed. Even so, she can’t help noticing that Charlie isn’t asking his estranged wife Duffy to pull her weight in the same way as everyone else.

Completely unaware Charlie and Duffy are nursing a secret, frustrated Jade accuses Charlie of favouritism only to be publicly scathed by the senior nurse. Will Charlie’s behaviour cause outrage among the nursing staff?
