In this tip-top sequel to The Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal the Cannibal (Anthony Hopkins) is at large in Florence, Italy.

FBI agent Clarice Starling (Julianne Moore, stepping effortlessly into Jodie Foster's shoes) is hot on his heels, his severely disfigured, only surviving victim (Gary Oldman) is out for revenge and Italian cop Giancarlo Giannini wants to get his greedy hands on the $3million reward.

Hopkins bites on his chillingly funny lines with relish and director Ridley Scott ensures this chiller is stylish, scary and grimly humorous. It certainly doesn't stint on the gory killings, either, and, for those with a strong stomach, there are some flesh-eating boars and a character having his brain eaten (while he's still alive) to savour.
