It’s 20 years since the first Harry Potter book was published – in a print run of only 500.

Some 500 million copies later, this documentary examines the magic at the heart of this cultural phenomenon, partly through objects taken from an exhibition at the British Library, which looks at how fantasy and reality overlap.

There are also items from JK Rowling’s personal archive and famous fans read out favourite spells and magical moments from the books.

Potter lovers will probably also be making a date with the Who Do You Think You Are? on Ms Rowling (6.30pm, ex NI) and a Talking Pictures on Harry Potter, which immediately precedes.

Enough to make any fan levitate with joy – Wingardium Leviosa!
