Home and Away spoilers: Will alcoholic Irene be driven back to drink?

Home and Away, Irene Roberts, Leah Patterson

As Irene continues to battle her demons in the aftermath of the attack on stalker Tommy, will she be tempted to drink again on Home and Away?

Irene Roberts (played by Lynne McGanger) seems strangely unmoved by the news Bella Nixon's (Courtney Miller) online stalker Tommy will be spending a long time behind bars, now the charges against him have been upgraded on Home and Away.

Bella confides in housemate Willow Harris (Sarah Roberts) that she's worried Irene blames her for everything that happened with Tommy, and no longer wants her living at the Beach House.

Missing her policeman brother Colby Thorne (Tim Franklin), will Bella consider moving back in with him at his pier apartment, as Irene's strange behaviour continues?

However, Bella isn't the only close friend Irene is pushing away. Marilyn Chambers (Emily Symons) is also convinced all is not well with Irene.

Leah Patterson (Ada Nicodemou), who secretly knows Irene has been re-living memories of a past assault by a man, tries to persuade Marilyn to give Irene some space. Unfortunately, in a terrible case of bad timing, Marilyn visits Irene at home to see if she can help, just as she's about to SNAP!

Unaware of the past demons Irene has been battling, Marilyn is shocked when Irene turns nasty and warns her to mind her own business and sends Marilyn packing!

Alone at last, alcoholic Irene takes out a bottle of vodka and places it on the kitchen counter in front of her. Is she about to be driven back to drink?

Elsewhere, in the aftermath of Raffy Morrison's (Olivia Deeble) attempt to kiss her ex-boyfriend Ryder Jackson (Lukas Radovich), Raffy is refusing to work with Ryder on their English assignment for school, which means they could both fail the assignment!

Can teacher Roo Stewart (Georgie Parker) convince the teenagers to put their differences aside and finish the English assignment together?

Home and Away continues weekdays at 1:15pm and 6:00pm on Channel 5

Simon has long been a fan of soap operas, and especially loves OVER-THE-TOP plots involving evil twins, hair-pulling catfights and natural disasters. Anyone remember the Sunset Beach earthquake/tidal wave? Or when Krystle Carrington got locked in the attic and replaced by look-a-like Rita in Dynasty?!

Simon has written for a variety of TV and childrens’ magazines/websites including Inside Soap, Nickelodeon, What’s On TV, Radio Times, Metro, Girl Talk, Disney Girl, Toxic! and Digital Spy. He has reported LIVE from the red carpet at The British Soap Awards interviewing glammed-up stars from soapland, and hosted a Facebook LIVE session for Metro with Home and Away legend Ray Meagher (Alf "Stone the flamin' crows!" Stewart) to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Aussie soap.
