Despite a disastrous success rate of, er, zero, the reality show that got Britain talking last year returns for a second series. For reasons best-known only to themselves, eight more singletons have signed their lives away to Channel 4 and agreed to let them play matchmaker.

But, not only that, they have agreed to marry the person they are matched with without ever meeting them. Their first date will be at the altar, so they’d better hope they like the look of each other. Did they not watch series one?!

None of last year’s newlyweds are still together. Will love be a less cruel mistress for student nurse Melissa and business development executive Clark, who get wed in tonight's first episode?
