Documentary profiling Princess Margaret whose life and loves reflected the social and sexual revolution that transformed Britain during the 20th century

A two-part film on the controversial Royal’s life and loves.

Without a proper role, the Queen’s younger sister Margaret caused quite a bit of scandal – particularly in her choice of lovers, as is revealed in the first of this excellent two-part series.

From the age of 16, Margaret had had an affair with dashing former World War Two pilot Peter Townsend who was not only married with children but her father’s equerry.

When the affair hit the headlines in 1953, divorced Townsend was sent off to Brussels for two years and the Queen ordered Margaret to wait for him.

However, Margaret chose not to marry him, and later wed bohemian photographer Antony Armstrong-Jones, who was bisexual and notoriously promiscuous.
