When this series, featuring experts restoring family treasures, began earlier this year, the emphasis was – refreshingly – on the emotional value they had for their owners.

In this festive special, the team restore a nativity scene, a sleigh, a 1939 doll, a ripped painting and a Victorian-era music box called a polyphon.

It’s always satisfying seeing the owners’ reactions to their restored items, and that’s particularly true of two sisters who can’t help but well up on hearing their beloved polyphon playing Hark! The Herald Angels Sing for the first time in decades. It may leave a lump in your throat, too.
