Seth Rogen and chums have a ball with this rude and raunchy animated comedy set in the aisles of a supermarket filled with sex-mad talking food products.
How much fun you have will depend on your tolerance for a diet of non-stop swearing and filthy innuendo. The voice cast don't just rain down f-bombs; they lob in a good few c-grenades for good measure, too.
The premise here is that the supermarket groceries blithely worship 'the gods' - the shoppers - who will take them to a life of bliss in 'the Great Beyond'.
Then Rogen's horny hot dog sausage, eager to get it on with Kristen Wiig's curvaceous bun, learns the horrifying truth of the fate that actually awaits them.
The film serves up some taboo-busting, close-to-the-knuckle satire on religion and ethnic strife - with the Israeli/Palestinian conflict played out between a neurotic Jewish bagel who sounds just like Woody Allen (Edward Norton) and a bellicose Arab flatbread (David Krumholtz).
But the stoner humour wears thin after a while and the film becomes more irritating than entertaining.
The film premieres on Sunday 30 April.
