Michael Sheen gives a superb impersonation of Brian Clough, the legendary, over-opinionated but mostly principled English football manager
Michael Sheen gives a superb impersonation of Brian Clough, the legendary, over-opinionated but mostly principled English football manager.
This super movie tells the tale of Cloughie's doomed 44-day tenure as reformist manager of hard-playing reigning champions, Leeds United, in 1974, honing in on Clough's bitter clash with Leeds' previous manager Don Revie (Colm Meaney) and stormy friendship with his trusty deputy, Peter Taylor (a scene-stealing Timothy Spall).
A real high scorer, this is a terrific tale of belligerence, brilliance and the beautiful game.
