DI Neil Manson tells the team that Larry Franks, an obsessive stalker, is now the prime suspect in the Cindy Statham murder case. When Pcs Leela Kapoor and Tony Stamp find a distraught Larry down by the canal, burning posters of Cindy, they arrest him. Larry insists to DC Jo Masters and DS Stuart Turner that he could never hurt the woman he loved. Later, Jo and Stuart discover that Cindy went to lunch with her half-brother, Richie Buckingham, on the day she died, with CCTV footage revealing that Richie had a row with Cindy and stormed out of the restaurant. Meanwhile, over at St Hugh's hospital, Richie is being treated for concussion and his memory is sketchy. The detectives arrive at the hospital and tell Richie that he needs to try and remember what he did after he left the restaurant and why his fingerprints were found all over Cindy's home... Elsewhere, Leela protests her innocence when a bag of heroin is found at her flat, claiming it belongs to her friend, Shane Halligan. When questioned, Shane admits that he smuggled the drugs in from Australia, where he met Leela. The officers must prove that Shane acted alone - or Leela's career could be over...
