There's more stunningly ferocious combat in store in this sequel to the brutally exciting 2011 action thriller in which Iko Uwais' rookie Jakarta cop emerged bloody but unbowed from a tenement packed with thugs and killers

There's more stunningly ferocious combat in store in this sequel to the brutally exciting 2011 action thriller in which Iko Uwais' rookie Jakarta cop emerged bloody but unbowed from a tenement packed with thugs and killers.

Picking up where that film left off, Uwais goes undercover in a prison to get in with a crime boss's banged-up son. After an epic fight in which he saves the underworld heir's life, he insinuates his way into the heart of the family's organisation.

Welsh-born director Gareth Evans choreographs the eye-gougingly savage action with skill - not for nothing does one of the hero's most lethal adversaries go by the name Hammer Girl - and the result is another bout of electrifying mayhem.
