There is some real Hollywood heft to HBO's feature-length biography of Wall Street villain Bernie Madoff, who in 2009 was sentenced to 150 years in prison for one of the biggest financial frauds in history.

Framed by an incarcerated Madoff (Robert De Niro) giving an interview to New York Times journalist Diana B Henriques, director Barry Levinson's masterful film tells the story of how Madoff kept his deception quiet for years – even from his wife Ruth (Michelle Pfeiffer).

'I keep you in the dark to protect you,' Madoff tells Ruth, before his family's lives are shattered along with those of thousands of his victims.
