Hollyoaks' Craig Vye reveals gym rivalry

Hollyoaks actor Craig Vye has revealed that there is competition between him and his co-stars in the gym to see who can achieve the best body. Craig, who plays Ethan Scott in the show, told Inside Soap magazine that he and other cast members - who strip off every year to pose for the Hollyoaks calendar - that they encourage each other to maximise their muscles. "There's loads of competition!" he said. "My gym buddies are Danny Mac (Dodger) and James Atherton (Will Savage), so we egg each other on. And Rob Norbury (Riley Costello) likes to flash his guns. "I can't believe he's only 22 years old, as he's a big lad - I'm sure he's lying on his birth certificate! But he doesn't scare us, it's all just good banter." Craig's alter ego has a reputation for being a love rat after two-timing his girlfriend Liberty Savage, played by Abi Phillips, with Theresa McQueen (Jorgie Porter). However the married actor admitted that his wife was still fond of the character. "Amber loves the show! I think she reckons that Ethan's a bit of a charmer, and probably sees a few elements of him in me," Craig told the magazine. "When you're acting, you can never completely detach your own personality from a character you're playing, but I hope she recognises that the duplicitous elements of Ethan's personality haven't come from me! "She doesn't tell me off when I got back to our home in London on the weekends," the star added, "so everything must be OK."
