Attack of the Lederhosen Zombies | It's snow joke when the undead rampage in the Alps

Attack of the Lederhosen Zombies

"It's all downhill from here"

A trio of young snowboarders find themselves stranded on top of an Alpine ski resort in the midst of a zombie outbreak in this schlocky low-budget horror comedy.

Attack of the Lederhosen Zombies is very much a one-joke movie – and the title is as funny as it gets. There are knowing references to other zombie movies; lots of grisly splatter (ski poles, snowboards and other improvised weapons used to impale, decapitate and disembowel the undead); and a sprinkling of lame one-liners.  (‘It’s these alcopops, they make people crazy,’ says the resort’s redoubtable innkeeper when the epidemic starts).

But compared to the likes of Shaun of the Dead, this is very feeble stuff.

Certificate 15. Runtime 77 mins. Director Dominik Hartl

Attack of the Lederhosen Zombies debuts on Sky Cinema Premiere on 16 March and is available on DVD from Screenbound Pictures.

Jason Best

A film critic for over 25 years, Jason admits the job can occasionally be glamorous – sitting on a film festival jury in Portugal; hanging out with Baz Luhrmann at the Chateau Marmont; chatting with Sigourney Weaver about The Archers – but he mostly spends his time in darkened rooms watching films. He’s also written theatre and opera reviews, two guide books on Rome, and competed in a race for Yachting World, whose great wheeze it was to send a seasick film critic to write about his time on the ocean waves. But Jason is happiest on dry land with a classic screwball comedy or Hitchcock thriller.
