So, the big question for Neighbours’ fans is: will Kylie Minogue be pulling on her overalls and making a special appearance in the soap as Charlene next year, for its 30th anniversary?

And according to one British tabloid, the answer is “yes”.

Neighbours stalwart Anne Charleston, who starred as the beloved Madge from 1986-1992, then 1996-2001, has said: “The Neighbours special thirtieth anniversary is coming up. I will probably be involved and it will go to air in March.

“I think Kylie is on board for the special and I imagine everyone will be in on it because it’s a big occasion,” she told the Daily Record.

“I look on those days with fondness and there is no way in the world I’d walk away from the special because it’s a celebration and I think we should all be involved in it,” added Anne, who is appearing at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Kylie has been teasing fans that Charlene could make a comeback for the special edition, even hinting at the reappearance on Twitter just before her appearance at the Commonwealth Games.

She tweeted: “So.....I bought overalls today. #overalls”.

Kylie, who was  in the hit show from 1986 through till 1988, drew in a record breaking 20 million British viewers when she wed her high-school sweetheart, Scott Robinson, played by Jason Donovan.
