7 things you didn’t know about Coronation Street and Hollyoaks favourite Adam Rickitt
He’s probably best remembered for playing Coronation Street’s Nick Tilsley back in the late 90s, but after trying his hand at various different careers, 40-year-old Adam Rickitt is now happily married and has found his acting feet once again playing Hollyoaks’ Kyle Kelly. Written by Claire Crick.
1. Adam Rickitt is married to Good Morning Britain presenter Katy Fawcett
The pair tied the knot in a romantic ceremony in December 2014 after a two-year engagement. The couple met when journalist Katy was sent to interview Adam, and he was so convinced that she was "the one" that he introduced her to his family after only two dates!
2. He’s tried his hand at a career in politics
It might be a far cry from the Corrie cobbles, but Adam surprised many people by being approved as a prospective parliamentary candidate for the Conservative Party in October 2005. While his political career might have taken a back seat for now, Adam has hinted it’s still very much part of his long-term plan.
3. He’s been in three different soaps
Coronation Street and Hollyoaks aren’t the only soaps that Adam has starred in. He also appeared in New Zealand soap Shortland Street between 2007 and 2010, playing the mysterious Kieran Mitchell.

4. He has to run nine miles every day!
Adam suffers from a long-term condition called Ankylosing Spondylitis, where his spine could fuse together. He spoke openly about the disease he’s had since he was 18-years-old on Loose Women last year, revealing that he needs to exercise regularly and maintain a strict diet otherwise he could end up in a wheelchair.
5. He was a child model and a 90s singer
Before finding fame in Coronation Street, Adam forged a career as a child model. Becoming part of the Corrie cast re-launched his modelling career, and thanks to his 90s boy band floppy blond locks, he was a hit for women’s magazines like Cosmopolitan.
6. He was part of one of Corrie’s most controversial storylines
Back in 2003 gay kisses were surprisingly rare on pre-watershed TV, so when and Adam’s character Nick shared a kiss with Todd Grimshaw it caused so much of a stir that it was front page news the next day. Talking about the kiss on Good Morning Britain earlier this year the actor said: “It was absolutely brilliant, there was no negative reaction to it. The British public were a lot more clued up than people realised.”
7. He came last in reality TV show The Games
Back in March 2006 Adam joined the C4 show as a replacement when another contestant, musician Goldie, injured himself and became unable to take part. Adam unfortunately didn’t fare much better and ended up getting injured himself, leaving the show with two black eyes.
