BBC boss reveals which shows will stream on BritBox

BBC favourites McMafia, Les Miserables and beloved comedy Gavin and Stacey will all be available to stream on BritBox, Lord Tony Hall has revealed.

BBC boss Lord Tony Hall has revealed what kind of content viewers can expect from new joint streaming service BritBox. .

Speaking to The Mirror, Lord Tony Hall boasted that BritBox will leave users spoilt for choice with "the biggest collection of UK content available on any service".

Lord Hall confirmed some of the BBC's most popular dramas such as McMafia, Last Tango in Halifax, Les Misérables will be available for streaming, as well as the beloved comedy Gavin & Stacey.

Joining BritBox from ITV are shows such as Broadchurch and Vera - to the delight of crime drama fans.

As well as existing series – Good Morning Britain daily updates– BritBox will also commission brand new shows, according to Lord Hall.

Promising "fantastic" value, the general director also assured licence fee-payers that their money won't be going to the new venture.

He said: 'You will always see BBC programmes on the BBC first and our ambition is that BBC programmes will all be free on iPlayer for at least a year'" he explained. 'We are also transforming iPlayer into an even better service.
