Couch Potato's Tuesday Trivia: How Swank fooled her neighbours for Boys Don't Cry

Hilary Swank won an Oscar for her outstanding performance in this powerful fact-based movie about American trans man Brandon Teena.

To prepare for her role in Boys Don't Cry, Swank chose to live as a man for a number of weeks - losing weight to accentuate her facial bone structure, wrapping bandages round her chest to flatten it, and sticking socks down her trousers to add that extra masculine touch. In fact, she was so convincing that her neighbours actually believed that she had her brother staying with her.
