Track and field athlete Perri Shakes-Drayton has said she was "not ready" to leave Dancing On Ice after she was eliminated from the show.

Perri Shakes-Drayton said she was not ready to go as she was eliminated from Dancing On Ice.

The athlete received her marching orders during Sunday night’s instalment of the ITV competition.

Shakes-Drayton and her professional partner Hamish Gaman had found themselves in the bottom two alongside singer Lemar and his partner Melody Le Moal.

But after they skated again, judges Jason Gardiner, Ashley Banjo, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean agreed Lemar had been stronger, and chose to keep him in the contest.

“I was enjoying it. I was not ready to go home,” said Shakes-Drayton.

“But unfortunately Lemar was the better skater today and unfortunately the journey ends.”

Lemar has been in the skate-off every week and has survived each one.

Elsewhere, there were huge cheers for Ale Izquierdo when she stepped on the ice with her celebrity partner Max Evans.

The professional skater was taken to hospital on Saturday after falling while she and the rugby star were rehearsing.

Evans said it had knocked his confidence and praised the skater for her courage.
