David Walliams: 'I'd do a turn on Strictly!'

David Walliams has revealed he would be up for a stint on Strictly Come Dancing after he and Miranda Hart were put through their paces with a few dance lessons for their forthcoming Christmas comedy.

The pair learned the basics to film a scene for BBC One family film Gangsta Granny, based on David's best-selling children's book.

And he told Radio Times he would entertain the idea of appearing on the hit programme "one day".

David, who is on the judging panel for ITV contest Britain's Got Talent, said: "I think it's the one show that would be fun to do. You don't have to eat kangaroo testicles at any point - unless, of course, you want to.

"And there's no humiliation involved. You can be rubbish at it but the public can still like you and find you entertaining. So maybe one day."

In Gangsta Granny, David and Miranda play a couple who are obsessed with Strictly, down to their permanent spray tans, and had lessons to prime them for their roles.

"We got a bit carried away, and started asking the producer who was better. Really annoyingly, she said Miranda."

The interview is in the new edition of Radio Times, on sale now.
