Viewers aren't happy that legendary character's return will only be brief...

Emmerdale fans have taken to Twitter to beg soap bosses to bring Mandy Dingle back for good.

Last night saw actress Lisa Riley return to Emmerdale as Mandy Dingle after 17 years away from the soap, and fans couldn't be happier.

In fact, they're so thrilled that they want her return to be made permanent.

It's no secret that the long-awaited return of legendary Mandy is only for a short stint... but fans have enjoyed seeing the banter between her and ex-husband Paddy so much that they're calling for the character to come back for longer.

She's back!

Last year saw another fan favourite, Kim Tate, return to the village after nearly two decades away, and although her original return was short-lived, Emmerdale has revealed that she will be back to cause havoc once again this year.

Fans are hoping that the same will happen with Mandy, with one fan tweeting the actress with: "PLEASE STAY LONGER THAN A WEEK! Come on @emmerdale, Mandy needs to stay!"

And they weren't the only one...

As well as thrilling fans with her return, Lisa also set the cat among the pigeons on screen, as alter go Mandy surprised Marlon by turning up at his official wedding to Jessie.

Paddy was also at the ceremony as a witness and looked like he'd seen a ghost when his ex wife walked in and made herself at home.

But once the initial shock of seeing Mandy had worn off, Paddy and Marlon were thrilled to see her back in the village... until Chas spotted them laughing and joking and all hell broke loose.

Chas snaps and attacks Mandy!

Before Paddy knew what was happening the two women were fighting, and it was up to bride Jessie to break them apart.

Thankfully order was restored after they had a heart-to-heart in the church, with Chas revealing her and Paddy's heartache over baby Grace.

But whatever has bought Mandy back to the village remains a secret as she bolted without telling him her secret.

There were huge hints that her son is also Paddy's child, with Vinny acting and looking like a Paddy mini me... but is it a red herring?

Keep watching this week to find out!

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
