He’ll play an adversary of Cain Dingle…
Dean Andrews – best known for playing Ray Carling in BBC1 cops shows Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes – has landed a big new role in Emmerdale.
Show bosses say he’ll be on screen from the Spring, but haven’t revealed who the 55 year old actor will be playing; only revealing that he will be “stirring up trouble in the village and will soon find himself head to head with Cain Dingle.”
Says Dean: “I have always loved Emmerdale and am thrilled to be joining the cast. As a Yorkshire lad, I have always watched the show and think that everything from the acting to the stories are consistently great, and I can’t wait to get stuck in.”
Adds Executive Producer, Jane Hudson: “We are absolutely delighted that Dean is joining the show. He is a superb actor, and his character is certainly going to shake things up for some of our villagers. And, as a Yorkshire man he is going to fit into Emmerdale perfectly.”
Cain Dingle, played by Jeff Hordley, is currently embroiled in a dramatic storyline in which he believes he murdered businessman Joe Tate. In emotional scenes screened last week, he "confessed" all to daughter Debbie – Joe’s former fiancé – who has now wiped her hands of her ‘murderous’ father.
But what neither Cain nor Debbie know is that Joe was actually killed by his right hand man, Graham Foster.
Could Dean be linked to this storyline; perhaps playing one of Joe Tate’s friends who has an axe to grind with Cain? Or maybe Dean could be playing a cell mate of Cain, should the mechanic be wrongly sent down for Joe’s murder.
Another possibility is that his character is linked to Kim Tate. Actress Claire King, who plays the village vixen, recently revealed that she is back filming with the soap and will be on screen either late February or early March. Could Dean be playing Kim’s latest love interest?
