“New crews, new villains, new heroes, new worlds,” proclaims the first teaser trailer for Bryan Fuller’s reboot of the classic 60s TV series Star Trek.

American network CBS is launching a brand new series of the classic science fiction show to run alongside the Hollywood film – and a new short clip reveals a flashy new logo and a trip across space.

The new series has been created by Bryan Fuller, working alongside 2009's Star Trek movie writer Alex Kurtzman and the original Star Trek creator’s son, Eugene Roddenberry.

But the phrase that has got people talking is 'new crews'.

Noticed that the new #StarTrek teaser said “new crews” and not “new crew”. That has to be intentional right?

New “crews”? Plural? My attention is piqued. https://t.co/X8sP30YnrE

The idea of multiple crews could mean that the new show may not focus on a single ship.

With Star Trek Beyond set to hit UK cinemas on July 22, the TV series will follow in January 2017.

The trailer was revealed by CBS in New York at their Upfront event, where the network also announced that a spin-off of The Good Wife will be coming to its subscription-only streaming service.

Christine Baranski’s character Diane Lockhart will be the focus of the new series on CBS All Access, after the main show ended earlier this month.
