Marc Baylis back filming in Coronation Street

Marc Baylis, AKA notorious Corrie murderer Rob Donovan, announced on Twitter that he’d had a "great first day back" filming on Coronation Street after spending nearly a year away from the soap.

It was announced back in August that the actor would return to our screens as killer Rob Donovan later this year.

Marc has agreed to reprise his role for an exciting storyline which will see the villain calling the shots from his prison cell.

Marc’s character is still serving time for the murder of Tina McIntyre (Michelle Keegan), whom he unceremoniously bashed over the head with a metal bar after she threatened to reveal all to his sister Carla about her affair with Peter and go to the police about Rob and Tracy’s dodgy deals at the shop.

But being behind bars won’t stop Rob terrorising Weatherfield once again when he begins sending out visiting orders for a number of the Street’s residents. Whether or not his former fiancée Tracy Barlow is one of them remains to be seen.

Marc left Coronation Street last November, but the soap’s bosses have always made it clear that he could return to the famous cobbles. On his exit, Marc tribute to the show’s fans also hinted that a comeback was likely: “A huge thank to all the viewers who have been watching this year,” he said, before adding “Who knows... I may see you again.”
