Michael Powell's widow, son & greatest champion (that's Marty) in London next month for a special screening of Peeping Tom

Peeping Tom - Michael Powell

Word is out that there's going to be a special screening of Michael Powell’s misunderstood masterpiece Peeping Tom at the London’s Curzon Soho on Saturday 13th November 2010.

Following the screening of a restored digital print of the film on the 13th, Francine Stock (presenter of BBC Radio 4's The Film Programme) will interview Powell’s great champion Martin Scorsese, together with Powell’s widow Thelma Schoonmaker-Powell and his son, Columba Powell (one of the stars of the film).

Sounds like an unmissable evening, but if you can't get there the film's getting a 50th anniversary cinema release from 19th November.

More details to appear on the Curzon site soon.

Jason Best

A film critic for over 25 years, Jason admits the job can occasionally be glamorous – sitting on a film festival jury in Portugal; hanging out with Baz Luhrmann at the Chateau Marmont; chatting with Sigourney Weaver about The Archers – but he mostly spends his time in darkened rooms watching films. He’s also written theatre and opera reviews, two guide books on Rome, and competed in a race for Yachting World, whose great wheeze it was to send a seasick film critic to write about his time on the ocean waves. But Jason is happiest on dry land with a classic screwball comedy or Hitchcock thriller.
