Strictly Come Dancing: see the ‘razzle-dazzle’ Charleston that put Georgia May Foote on top

The Charleston was the dance former Coronation Street actress Georgia May Foote joined Strictly Come Dancing to perform.

This week she did it and came sooooooo close to scoring a perfect 40 with partner Giovanni Pernice.

“The Charleston is the dance I’ve been the most excited about,” Georgia told Giovanni as he started to teach her the routine to the film Chicago’s finale song "Hot Honey Rag".

Georgia and Giovanni were the week eight winners with a "breathtaking" Charleston

And she was even more excited about it after they had performed a fast, fun-filled dance that had the audience on their feet and cheering.

“Hats off to you two, that was amazing,” host Tess Daly told the couple when they finished.

“Oh, wowee! My Georgia!” Darcey Bussell shouted. “That took my breath away - especially when you did that flip. That was so brave. To take risks like that - and to do those turns at the end, one after the other… I will forgive you for falling back on those because it was brilliant.”

Georgia and Giovanni's Charleston routine was packed with "brave" lifts and flips, said Darcey Bussell

“Was that your kind of Charleston?” Tess asked Len Goodman.

“It was indeed. You put the ‘go’ in Chicago,” Len told Georgia. “Now I’m going to give you a little piece of advice: take a coat to Blackpool because it gets very cold.”

Which was Len’s way of saying that he fully expects Georgia and Giovanni - the “GGs” as they’re known on the show - to be competing at the Blackpool special next week.

“I was completely razzle-dazzled by that performance,” Bruno Tonioli told them. “And I’m sure everyone in the UK is as well. You were in character, you danced amazingly. But what I’ve seen over the past few weeks is that you’ve grown not only as a dancer but as a performer. You’re becoming a better actress as well as a better dancer.”

“Thank you so much,” Georgia told Bruno.

Then it was Craig Revel Horwood’s turn and, as usual, he had a face on him like a smacked bum.

“Three letters: L.U.V.,” he told a puzzled-looking Georgia.

But it was Craig’s way of saying he loved it… Just not enough to score it a 10.

Craig just couldn't bring himself to score Georgia and Giovanni a perfect 10

“I’ve never seen you happier,” co-host Claudia Winkleman told Georgia, as she bounced up to the gallery to await the judges’ scores. “You joined Strictly just to do the Charleston.”

“Yes. And Chicago’s my favourite film. I’m so honoured to be able to do that. Thank you,” Georgia said.

After receiving the highest score of the series (so far), Georgia screamed and jumped about so much we were worried she might have a top-half wardrobe malfunction, if you get our drift.
