TV Times top picks for today

What’s on telly tonight? Here the TV Times team of expert reviewers highlight the best shows on Saturday 12th May

Eurovision, 8pm, BBC1

Our entrant, SuRie, is a very cool artist, a hugely talented musician and she’s got a great song to belt out, so could she do the impossible and help the UK to a long-awaited sixth Eurovision victory? We highly doubt it. But that won’t stop us flying our flags and tuning in for this outrageously entertaining, often ridiculous showcase of the continent’s catchiest tunes (oh, and Australia’s contribution, too, which is usually excellent). Graham Norton has once again dipped out of BAFTA hosting duties to be in the commentary box (that’s dedication!) and we’re certain his irreverent wit will get us through any ropey moments. Rating: ****

The Keith & Paddy Picture Show, 9.20pm, ITV

The Keith & Paddy Picture Show Terminator 2

When Terminator 2: Judgment Day came out in 1991, it was the biggest film of the year, used groundbreaking CGI, and critics hailed it as one of the great action films. Will Keith and Paddy do it justice? Well, with 80s pop legend Rick Astley as the shapeshifting T-1000 cyborg, what do you think? Jaime Winstone is convincing as teen hero John Connor – so convincing, in fact, that Keith and Paddy start treating her like an adolescent boy. Keith hasn’t quite got Arnie’s physique, but has better acting skills. It’s silly, it’s rude, but always good to see a few celebs trying comedy and getting in on the action. Let’s hope ‘they’ll be back’ for another series after this one! And you can compare and contrast with the real Terminator 2 at 10.05pm. Rating: ****

Britain’s Got Talent, 8pm, ITV

With such impressive talent on offer this series, we’re surprised that there aren’t MORE Golden Buzzers available. We’re still in bits over magician Marc Spelmann’s heartfelt routine – and don’t get us started on the adorable singing duo, dad Tim and his 12-year-old son, Jack. As the auditions continue this week, there are still some Golden Buzzers up for grabs, so we’ll be keen to see who else gets the ‘confetti blizzard’ and a pass to BGT’s live semi-finals in a few weeks’ time. More previews tomorrow
