On TV tonight, acclaimed US drama The Bear drops as a boxset on Disney Plus, The A Word spin-off Ralph & Katie gets underway, Bert's latest scheme comes a cropper in Doc Martin, and The Repair Shop team helps to restore even more treasured objects and heirlooms on the BBC. Here's what you shouldn't miss on TV tonight.

Shameless US star Jeremy Allen White stars as young chef Carmen ‘Carmy’ Berzatto in this critically acclaimed comedy-drama. Carmy has made a success of himself in the world of fine dining, but after the tragic suicide of his brother, he returns home to Chicago to run his family’s sandwich shop, The Original Beef of Chicagoland. It’s a different world for Carmy, who must try to get the uncooperative staff on board, cope with family rifts and navigate the tricky challenges of small business, all the while facing his own grief.   

Ralph & Katie, 9 pm, BBC One + BBC iPlayer

Leon Harrop and Sarah Gordy were two of the stand-out stars of The A Word as fabulously feisty Ralph and Katie, who both have Down’s syndrome, and now they’ve landed their own charming spin-off! The engaging drama finds the couple settling into life as husband and wife, but Ralph’s mum Louise (Pooky Quesnel) is still refusing to cut the apron strings, especially when the pair hire a laid-back support worker (Dylan Brady) without her knowledge! Meanwhile, Katie’s eager for promotion at the bakery where she works, but a thoughtless remark from Ralph upsets her… Look out for The Royle Family’s Craig Cash as their bothersome neighbour Brian.

Bert’s latest money-making scheme is destined to end in disaster, but, as ever,he doesn’t let that stop him! There are explosive consequences when he tries to force squatter Ross out of a valuable vintage caravan. Has irresponsible Bert finally gone too far? Elsewhere, Finding Alice’s Kenneth Cranham reprises his guest role from 2006 as Louisa’s dodgy dad, Terry. Louisa (Caroline Catz) is stunned to find him in her kitchen making a cuppa after years of estrangement. It turns out Terry is unwell, but Aunt Ruth has reasons to be suspicious about his return and is determined to root out the truth!

The Repair Shop, 8 pm, BBC One

The sky’s the limit for the first item brought into the barn as siblings Marc and Mel bring in their dad’s old kite. It’s ripped and faded but paper expert Chris is determined to have it blowing in the wind again. Next is Kate, who is also after a major restoration so the next generation of her family can ride on a toy train that was bought by her dad in the 1960s. Held together by rust and happy memories, metal expert Dom must do a first-class job to get this toy back on track. Also, Kirsten pieces back together a precious plate with a well-known owner.

The reboot of the iconic soap opera charting the ups and downs of the Carrington family has returned for its final season. The drama begins where season 4 ended as we discover whether Fallon, who was shot by her evil, husband-stealing assistant Eva, survived the attack. A host of familiar faces return for the final series including Grant Shaw as Blake Carrington, Elizabeth Gillies as Fallon Carrington, Sam Underwood as Adam Carrington, Elaine Hendrix as Alexis Carrington and Daniella Alonso as Cristal Jennings Carrington. Also watch out for a new member of the family as British actress Eliza Bennet joins the show as a regular character called Amanda, a long-lost relative who was born and raised Europe who brings some serious baggage with her!
