Pat Phelan, one of soap’s greatest villains, will be back with murder on his mind as he makes a shocking return to Coronation Street later this month.
Corrie, who've released a dramatic new trailer tonight, has billed it as his “final showdown”, implying that perhaps he meets his maker at last? Or maybe he wreaks a hideous revenge on everyone before escaping to the sun?!

Phelan, (played by Connor McIntyre) has been licking his wounds and lying low away from Weatherfield. But the baddie has been keeping a close watch on all those he feels have wronged him – that’s a lot of people! – and has a huge hit list of people he now plans to take revenge on.

Gary finds Phelan on a campsite in Wales and takes Phelan back to the street, where all his pent up fury comes out. According to Tony Pipes, Executive Creative Director of ITV Creative, the new trailer shows the Street as “it’s never been shown before, dripping with a claustrophobically foreboding atmosphere".
Tony added: “We placed Pat Phelan at the heart of the promo, appearing impossibly around every corner of the Street for five unsuspecting characters: Nicola, Seb, Eileen, Gary and Sarah.”
Phelan’s final showdown will be stripped across the week between Monday 28th May and Friday 1st of June. It promises to be a massive week in the Street as a string of big plotlines come to a head, including Michelle preparing to marry Rover and David fighting to take control of his life after his rape ordeal.
