Coronation Street's producer Stuart Blackburn has revealed that Stella Price will make a 'low-key' exit from the show, in the wake of several more dramatic departures.
Speaking at a press event for the soap earlier this week, Blackburn said viewers still had another few months of Michelle Collins' character to look forward to - with her leaving based around Leanne's well-being.
“Stella is on screen until the end of April or early May. It’s a very quiet exit because we’ve had so many big ones and there are massive ones coming up," he explained. “It’s an exit where she’s trying to do the right thing by Leanne.
He added: "There’s also a sense of Stella looking at Gloria and her lust for life. She’s also looking at Eva who’s with Jason She thinks 'I'm not dead yet - I'm only 50 and there's a whole world out there!
"Hopefully it's genuine, moving, truthful and leaves the door open. But mostly Stella thinks if she goes, Leanne can get on with whatever she's getting on with, but what that is I'm not going to say!"
Michelle joined Corrie in 2011 but announced last summer she would be leaving - saying she wanted to spend more time with her teenage daughter Maia Rose.
Her departure was said at the time to be a 'real blow' for the soap which is losing several other major names in the coming months.
