Two former contestants on The Voice, Joe & Jake, will represent Britain at the Eurovision Song Contest on 14 May in Sweden.

The singers won last night’s public vote on BBC4 with the immensely catchy number You're Not Alone, a song about unity and love.

“It feels amazing,” said former PE teacher Joe, 21. “I just wanna say, this crowd is incredible! Thank you so much, we're so proud! We're not going to celebrate, we're going to start practising so we can win!”

"It's going to be incredible,” added Jake, 20, from Stoke-on-Trent. “We hope we make you all proud.”

The duo, who saw off five other hopefuls, appeared on last year’s season of The Voice. Jake got to the battle rounds, while Joe made it to the live shows. "We were good friends on The Voice,” revealed Jake, “but once it was over we spent more time together and started working together a lot more."

Last night’s Eurovision decider was presented by Great British Bake Off Mel Giedroyc, 47, a self-confessed superfan of the musical show. She will return with Scott Mills at 8pm on 10 and 12 May to host the semi-finals. Then it’s the big party on 14 May.
