Following on from last week’s complex lion dentistry, Liz Bonnin (pictured above) travels to a wildlife sanctuary in Sierra Leone this week to witness a life-saving operation on a young female chimpanzee with a rapidly growing, and potentially cancerous tumour on her abdomen.
Using advanced techniques developed in the world of human medicine to diagnose and remove the lump, a leading wildlife vet performs the delicate surgery, which seems to be going well, until the chimp starts to wake up…
