CIA agent Jack Ryan (Harrison Ford) has his hands full dealing with a murderous Colombian drugs gang and also with some over-zealous colleagues.
This is a proficient star vehicle for Ford, reprising his role from Patriot Games, though, for most of the time, his character is several steps behind everyone else. Willem Dafoe provides some scene-stealing support as a ruthless fellow agent and veteran character actor Donald Moffat puts a good cynical spin on his role as the US President.
Highlights include the extended ambush sequence, Ford's suspenseful bit of prying into some secret government computer files and his climactic foray into the jungle.
