Test results reveal Casualty’s Connie Beauchamp is facing the fight of her life…

Holby City ED clinical lead, Connie Beauchamp, receives life-changing news about her health this week, after she visits a private hospital for tests!

Last week Connie (Amanda Mealing) was alarmed when she experienced breathlessness and chest pains while out running, and dizziness and fatigue when treating a patient. Being a matter-of-fact medic, Connie books herself into Dellbridge Park Private Hospital for tests this week. She then goes straight to work and, although snappy with her colleagues, keeps her worries to herself!

Later, Connie’s private Cardiologist, Doctor Simon Feathering (the beginning of a guest role for Shakespeare in Love’s Nicholas Boulton) calls and reveals the test results are back. Connie uncharacteristically leaves the ED staff to fend for themselves and races to see him. But sadly Simon does not have good news…

Simon arranges further tests and Connie returns to work in a state shock. Throughout the day she cuts a lonely figure and distances herself from her friends and co-workers. But there’s a glimmer of hope she may confide in Doctor Ethan Hardy (George Rainsford) when he pops in to say goodbye at the end of the day.

Connie presents Ethan with her scan results claiming they belong to a patient and asks his advice. Ethan’s excited by the cardiac ‘case’, although admits if the results are malignant it doesn’t look good for the patient…

Will seriously ill Connie open up to Ethan – after all, she’s keeping his secret that he allowed Scott Ellisson to die? And what will her follow up tests reveal?

Also this week, there’s a love connection between Elle and Martin (EastEnders’ Roger Griffiths), the father of a patient she’s treating. However, can she save his daughter Daisy’s life before they plan their first date?

Meanwhile, cracks beginning to show in Iain and Lily’s relationship when she checks up on whether or not he’s working with his ex, Sam…
