Zara and Daniel have been busy bickering about surrogacy. But they may have something else to squabble about when a glamorous blonde makes eyes at Daniel!

Things haven't been great between Dr Zara Carmichael and her husband Dr Daniel Granger lately, as the pair continue to disagree over whether or not to have another child.

But Zara has another reason to be in a bad mood when a glamorous blonde, Melissa Harding, arrives at The Mill to discuss a business proposal with Daniel. Zara wants to continue their discussion about surrogacy but is put out when Daniel tells her he's made plans with Melissa! What does Melissa really want with handsome doctor Daniel?

Meanwhile, with The Mill already losing patients to rival surgery Sutton Vale, Practice Manager Mrs Tembe is annoyed when she discovers they are also recruiting more staff to help with their expansion.

Determined to keep a closer eye on the competition, Mrs Tembe persuades Dr Sid Vere to go undercover and apply to interview for a job at Sutton Vale. But her plan backfires when Sid's interview goes well and Practice Manager Jeremy Smails makes him an official job offer!

Elsewhere, Dr Heston Carter attends the funeral of a homeless man, Barry Bashford. But when Heston is unexpectedly named the Executor of Barry's estate, he makes a surprise discovery about the man he once gave a pair of shoes to.

Doctors continues weekdays at 1:45pm on BBC One.

Writer

Simon has long been a fan of soap operas, and especially loves OVER-THE-TOP plots involving evil twins, hair-pulling catfights and natural disasters. Anyone remember the Sunset Beach earthquake/tidal wave? Or when Krystle Carrington got locked in the attic and replaced by look-a-like Rita in Dynasty?!

Simon has written for a variety of TV and childrens’ magazines/websites including Inside Soap, Nickelodeon, What’s On TV, Radio Times, Metro, Girl Talk, Disney Girl, Toxic! and Digital Spy. He has reported LIVE from the red carpet at The British Soap Awards interviewing glammed-up stars from soapland, and hosted a Facebook LIVE session for Metro with Home and Away legend Ray Meagher (Alf "Stone the flamin' crows!" Stewart) to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Aussie soap.

Simon is also co-author of The Treasures Of Coronation Street (Carlton Books)

And the writer and director of (very!) low budget fright flick, Midsummer Night's EVIL and the sequel webisodes series, The Hatchet Woods HORROR.
