Eileen hands over Holly

Eileen puts on a brave face as she prepares to return Holly to social services, but she’s suffering inside at having to give up the baby that she thought was her granddaughter. Violet and Sean give Eileen their support, but the cracks are starting to show and when social services turn up to collect Holly, Eileen is in pieces. Liz lies to Vernon that she’s out on a brewery do for the night and instead heads out to meet Derek. At the hotel, Derek suggests they head upstairs after their drinks and an excited Liz puts all thoughts of Vernon to the back of her mind as she follows Derek upstairs. Paul is smug now that he’s got Sally onside and he’s sure that the workforce will give the management no more trouble. But the girls realise that they’ve been played for fools and Liam struggles in the bad atmosphere on the factory floor. Also, Ken and Deirdre are uncharacteristically grateful to have Blanche back from her holiday to distract them as the tension in the house has been unbearable.
