They’ve saved the best for last in this clever series finale that pays a perfect tribute to the original Morse series with a lovely guest spot from John Thaw’s widow Sheila Hancock.

The veteran actress plays the fabulously-named Dowsable Chattox, a local wise woman who meets Endeavour when he heads to a quaint (but creepy) village on the trail of a botanist who mysteriously disappeared five years ago.

But could the goings-on at a nearby nuclear power plant shed new light on the case? Meanwhile, Endeavour ponders his future as he receives an intriguing offer, and there’s fresh contact with Joan, which complicates matters even more…
