9/11: The Falling Man relives the day 18 years ago when the attack on the World Trade Center gave rise to an image which, once seen, can never be forgotten
9/11: The Falling Man revisits a photographic image taken by Associated Press photographer Richard Drew which condenses an awful episode in recent history down to one chilling image.
Ahead of this week’s anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, in which more than 3,000 people died after terrorists flew planes into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, here is another chance to see this respectful and thoughtful documentary narrated by Steven Mackintosh.
It's the story behind one of the most haunting images of the tragedy – a photograph of an unknown man falling from the north tower of the World Trade Center.
Mystery still surrounds his identity 18 years on, and this documentary sets about trying to identify him, as well as ask the questions – did he fall looking for safety, or did he jump on purpose when the conditions behind him in the building became too hellish?
