It's the day of Maddy's memorial service and Maria believes she could have saved Maddy's life by removing the 'out of order' sign from the toilet door. When news comes that Maddy's killer has been found, a devastated Maria tries to put her feelings into a speech that she will read at the service. Later, as everyone meets in the bar to bid farewell to Maddy, Maria gets so emotional as she reads her speech that Donna has to step in to finish it. Jac decides to hide out in theatre to get away from Joseph and his wedding talk. Jac manages to blag her way into surgery with Connie but her plan to avoid Joseph backfires when Connie is called away and Joseph fills in. Stuck together in theatre again, Jac tells Joseph her feeling for him are real - but Joseph insists he's marrying Faye and isn't interested. Martha turns up at Holby to see Elliot and is surprised to see Ben there. Ben insists he's at the hospital to do some photography but Martha doesn't buy it and, eventually, both Elliot and Ben admit he needs tests on his vision. When Martha and Ben learn that he could go blind, Martha tells Ben that, as his wife, she will support him through anything.
